This clip shows a variety of objects near the center of our galaxy. The region has a relatively high number of very energetic objects, including several black holes. The region also includes a bursting pulsar, a kind of spinning neutron star that scientists do not fully understand.
The second portion of this clip (after 8/26/96) points out an accreting pulsar, a spinning neutron star with gas and dust spinning around it. Lastly, the clip denotes two steady sources of x-ray emissions. Both the Crab Nebula and Cassiopeia A are supernova remnants -- the remains of exploded stars.
